Interwoven Magnetic Kagome Metal Overcomes Geometric Frustration

Pressure drives Ce through different microstructural pathways: ambient compression produces textured α′-Ce, while cold compression produces randomly oriented α″-Ce. Retained γ-Ce persists metastably and imprints the transformation history.

Scientific Achievement

Giant analogous Hall conductivity is reported in a new kagome metal TbTi3Bi4. The charge-density-wave Ti layers and the magnetic Tb layers are spatially separated yet strongly correlated, allowing stable and tunable topological transport properties.

Significance and Impact

This research establish TbTi3Bi4 as an ideal kagome metal with strong electron–magnetism interactions and demonstrates a new methodology to tune quantum states and transport properties.

Research Details

  • Magnetic field control of the anomalous hall effect is observed.
  • Neutron diffraction, spin-polarized scanning tunnelling microscopy and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy together unveil the comprehensive interplay between magnetism and charge density wave.
